Critics of Sam Bradford have to give it up: the quarterback has already memorized the “handoff to Adrian Peterson” part of the Vikings playbook.
Armchair critics have lambasted the Vikings for giving up so many valuable draft picks in exchange for Bradford, but those critics may have to eat crow as reports indicate that after just a few days in Minnesota, Bradford has already mastered the entire section of the Viking playbook devoted to handoffs to Peterson.
“Sam’s doing exceptionally well with ‘Peterson handoff right’, ‘Peterson handoff left’, ‘Peterson pitch left’—really all the Peterson running plays” Vikings Coach Mike Zimmer said. “Sam’s best play is probably ‘Direct snap to Peterson.’”
Zimmer said Bradford has struggled with the “Throw Swing Pass to Peterson” plays but that “that will come in time.”
