In the most shocking NBA free agency rumor yet, reports suggest Heat GM Pat Riley may depart Miami to join the Chicago Bulls.
The move would flip on its head Dwyane Wade’s decision to leave the Heat for the Bulls. The longtime Miami veteran signed with Chicago after falling out publicly with Riley over contract negotiations.
“Wade really felt Chicago was the best place for him but if the Bulls trade GMs for Pat Riley then Wade could try to leave the Bulls,” said one league observer.
Analysts think that if Riley moves to the Bulls, Wade would seek a trade to the Cavaliers, in which case Riley may seek a front office job in Cleveland, which could result in sending Wade back to Miami, which would trigger a luxury tax penalty for the Heat, a problem they would likely hire Pat Riley to help solve.
