Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook surprised many in the basketball world this week when he declared his intention to pull out of the NBA Finals, an event which many consider to be the most prestigious contest of the basketball season.

“I will be taking the rest of this summer to focus on my health,” noted Westbrook at a press conference after Game 2 of the NBA Finals between the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers. “I owe my Olympics teammates that much.”

Westbrook’s is just the latest surprising announcement by NBA players, after Warriors guard Steph Curry announced he would not be playing in the 2016 Olympics and Cavs guard JR Smith tacitly announced he would not be playing in the Finals, opting instead to stand in the corner with one hand half-heartedly raised.

Piling on the shocking revelations, Warriors forward Draymond Green declared that he had no intention of playing games 5, 6, or 7 of the NBA Finals, but that if called upon, he was willing to change his mind.
