Aging Cavaliers veteran and paternal presence Richard Jefferson awoke this morning to a delightfully thoughtful Father’s Day card prepared by his younger teammates.

Jefferson—whose age, creaky joints and parental admonitions make him the unquestioned patriarch of the team—was reportedly pleasantly surprised by the gesture.

“You’re the best Dad any teammate could have,” Kyrie Irving wrote on the card. “Thanks for all the little things you do, we don’t say it enough but we appreciate you!” added Kevin Love in the card.

In addition to the card, the Cavs also bought Jefferson a red tie, to which Jefferson said “Thanks, I need one of these, so this is great.”

We can't play sports*, but we can make jokes about them!
