Bedraggled Nationals outfielder Jayson Werth is currently living in a cabin in the woods in the middle of Washington DC, according to reports.
The veteran, whose appearance and manner have become more grizzled and unkempt in recent months, apparently paid to have a remote cabin—and its surrounding woods—built in the affluent Georgetown neighborhood of northwest DC.
“Not sure how he got it past the zoning board but yeah I’ve seen him inside the cabin a couple times,” said one neighbor. “He doesn’t come out much, he’s a real recluse—for someone living in Georgetown.”
Neighbors said Werth has been surviving on a diet of wild berries, venison, and take-out.
