Kansas forward Perry Ellis celebrated an impressive win over Maryland last night by inviting his three grandchildren onto the court after the game. The excited kids hugged Ellis, who is listed as twenty-two years old, but is clearly at least fifty-five.
Ellis, sitting in his special lawn chair, said he hoped that Kansas could ride its winning streak into an NCAA championship. “I was in my early thirties when the Jayhawks won it all in 1988, and it was magical,” said Ellis. “I would love these kids to experience that for themselves.”
Ellis took some time to dance with his three grandkids in between rubbing Icy Hot on his muscles, smiling wisely and saying soft prayers. Ellis said he had a big game coming up on Saturday, but he would enjoy a little down time on Sunday to watch the latest episode of “Castle.”
