Facing the media storm that resulted from the signing of former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow, New York Mets General Manager Sandy Alderson promised fans that “Tebow’s signing will NOT affect the team’s overall inconsistency.”
“Yes, there is a lot of razzle dazzle going on right now with the addition of Tim Tebow to the Mets family, not to mention our current fight for a wildcard spot,” said Mets Manager Terry Collins. “But just as before, we’re going to be defined by occasional home runs and players in and out of the lineup with injuries.”
The Mets went on to explain that although Tebow was signed to their instructional league team, they are considering the idea of bringing him up in a DH capacity, or as a fill-in for Mr. Met, whichever option is more distracting for the other players.
In the meantime, Tebow will report for duty to the Mets’ instructional team, which it has been revealed, is simply a room where players watch Tom Emanski instructional videos.
