The Kansas State University band preemptively apologized today, after photos of their new “Kansas, Kansas, Kansas!” formation surfaced online.

“While we believe that, next to the Jayhawks logo, the usage of three consecutive ‘K’s’ is self explanatory as the Kansas state motto, ‘Kansas, Kansas, Kansas!'” said KSU sousaphone player Kevin Williams. “We never want to offend anyone, least of all our esteemed rivals across the state.”

[Ed. note: The state motto of Kansas is not “Kansas, Kansas, Kansas!”]

Current sources within the band indicate that they are already preparing a pre-emptive apology for their Week 7 tribute to the works of acclaimed artist Georgia O’Keefe. No word yet on whether or not the team plans to scrap another of its controversial formations: “80085 on a calculator.”

We can't play sports*, but we can make jokes about them!
