In an effort to boost viewership numbers this season, the NHL is releasing their entire season at once for fans to binge watch.

“We’re hoping that this year becomes the year of ‘NHL and chill,’” said NHL commissioner Gary Bettman. “We are trying to adapt to the new normal as far as media consumption goes. If people can watch a whole season of—I don’t know—‘The Good Wife’ all at once, why shouldn’t they be able to do the same with hockey?”

Hockey fans seem to be enthusiastic about this new model for the league, diving deep into their favorite teams’ seasons quickly. Predictably, Canadian fans were especially enthusiastic.

“It seems like the season has just started, and I’m already to the All-Star break,” said one Montreal Canadiens fan. “I won’t spoil anything but let me tell you, there are some real surprises in store this season. This is better than ‘Stranger Things.’”

We can't play sports*, but we can make jokes about them!
