Happy 40th birthday to David Ortiz, the clutchiest clutch hitter to ever come through in the clutch.

All Boston sports fans have their ten favorite Red Sox moments, and Big Papi probably features prominently in about half of them. He is New England’s loving uncle, Boston’s fiery leader, and opposing pitchers’ greatest nightmare. Feliz cumpleaños, David Ortiz.

Please enjoy some of our favorite on- and off-field Papi Moments:

1. Some all time greats have taken selfies with President Obama: Bill Nye and Neil deGrasse Tyson, Bear Grylls, and even Joe Biden. However, Ortiz’s selfie with the POTUS during the Red Sox’s victory lap at the White House might take the cake.

2. David Ortiz hits his 500th career home run, joins rarified air, and looks darn adorable doing it.

3. If David Ortiz yelled at me, I’d need a change of pants. Perhaps soiled trousers was the key to the Sox going all the way after he pumped up the dugout with this speech during the 2013 playoffs.

4. Late game heroics are Otriz’s jam. Here he hits a game winning homer in the 14th inning of Game Four of the 2004 ALCS.

5. A talent on the diamond and in the kitchen: Ortiz makes a mean mango salsa on this regional Comcast commercial.

6. And of course, this glorious video of David Ortiz Prancercising through the streets of New York with Jose Bautista.

We can't play sports*, but we can make jokes about them!

*Two of our writers hit a home run** once
**It was in a video game.
