While the reasoning behind Colin Kaepernick’s sitting during the national anthem is laudable, there’s a bigger issue in the NFL, nay the world. It’s time for us to protest Carrie Underwood’s Sunday Night Football song.

“Waiting all day for a Sunday night”? No, we haven’t Ms. Underwood. We’ve been watching football all day and are now fully prepared to watch more football on Sunday night. And what makes matters worse is I think you know that.

Colin Kaepernick is taking a stand by sitting down for what he believes in, and I believe it is time for us to do the same. No longer can we sit (or stand) idly by and let this pop singer presume to know what we’ve been doing with our afternoons.

The “Waiting All Day For Sunday Night” song is a lie put upon us by a corrupt system that cares more about our musical entertainment than it does the truth. Colin Kaepernick sat down to stand up. For us, standing up will mean closing our ears. And in our silence will they finally hear us.

[UPDATE] “Waiting All Day For Sunday Night” was replaced months ago by the new Underwood song “Oh Sunday Night”, which is apparently fantastic.

We can't play sports*, but we can make jokes about them!
