Well, this is just embarrassing. The Chicago Cubs clinched their series with the San Francisco Giants last night, ensuring that the Giants won’t win their fourth World Series in seven years. Wow. What an epic fail.
The Giants won the World Series in 2010, 2012, and 2014, creating a perception that they would win in every even numbered year. But this year is 2016, and they definitely will not win the World Series. Honestly, at this point, Giants fans cannot truly be confident that their team will win the World Series in 2018 either. That has to hurt.
After the NLDS ended, Chicago Cubs fans could only look upon Giants fans with pity. The Cubs last won a World Series over 100 years ago, so they were not even close to blowing a chance at winning their fourth World Series in seven years. In fact, every other team Major League Baseball didn’t fail to win four World Series in seven years, because they didn’t set themselves up for failure by winning three. That’s just smart.
“I’m glad my team won, but the Giants’ fail was hard to watch,” said Chicago fan Chase McMillan, 26, a Naperville, Illinois resident whose great-grandfather wasn’t yet born when the Cubs last won the World Series.
