Kevin Durant made his first appearance in Golden State today, promising the crowd the Warriors would win “not 74, not 75, not 76, not 77” regular season games.

Durant’s proclamation echoed LeBron James’ comments upon joining the Miami Heat in 2010. Durant was appearing as part of a “welcome party” at Oracle Arena, complete with pyrotechnics, smoke and cheers from a capacity crowd.

“Not 78, not 79, not 80,” Durant continued later. “Not 81, not 82, not 83, not 84…”

During the ceremony, Warriors GM Bob Myers could be seen looking on with a quiet but restrained smile, as if to suggest Durant and the others would eventually be crushed under the weight of the enormous expectations.
