Well, it looks like Colin Kaepernick’s “cops are pigs” socks weren’t enough to fashionably communicate his displeasure for the jobs done by police in this country. The highly-scrutinized 49ers quarterback was also spotted yesterday wearing an inflammatory man-thong under his practice uniform.
Kaepernick polarized football fans around the country for shining a national spotlight on the crucial topic of police brutality by kneeling through the national anthem. He has appropriated a sensitive patriotic tribute to the American flag with a strong gesture that both exercises his First Amendment rights and utilizes his position as a prominent African-American to amplify his political stand. And then, also, he wears li’l cartoon socks and stuff because, you know, that’ll really show ’em.
“I found the message to be a little confusing, honestly,” said 49ers coach Chip Kelly. “Is he saying police officers are uptight, like a thong? I don’t know. He seemed really uncomfortable throughout practice, so I guess he’s pretty committed to this aspect of his protest.”
After practice, Kaepernick changed into his anti-police jeans, his pro-America galoshes, and his absolute favorite protest cardigan, which has pictures of police eating doughnuts all over it.
