One of the NBA’s most temperamental players has taken another step down the road to rebellion. DeMarcus Cousins showed up to the Kings’ practice facility Friday sporting a new lip ring, much to the chagrin of coach George Karl.
“I got it done at the Hot Topic in the mall,” Cousins explained to a group of curious teammates. “I think it looks really dope. I can’t wait to see the look on Coach’s face.”
Cousins and Karl, who have had well documented issues between them this season, were seen heading into Karl’s office to hash out this new body modification. Cousins, lip still slightly swollen from the fresh piercing, stomped his way into the office, and Karl slammed the door behind him. Soon, shouts of “you’re not my dad” and “I’m not angry, I’m just disappointed” could be heard echoing the halls of the facility.
“Whatever, I’m out of here,” said Cousins, storming out of the facility. “I’m going out with friends! Don’t wait up for me!”
Later, once things had cooled off a bit, Karl conceded that, while he isn’t happy with the piercing, “at least it’s not a tongue ring.”
