With all the hype around the Ryder Cup, it’s safe to wonder whether this year’s Cup is the thing that you currently have playing on your television set in the background while you do other things.

And there’s an easy way to find out: Look up at the TV. Are there people playing golf? Are half of them wearing stripy polo shirts and the other half wearing gray polo shirts? If so, there’s a good chance that that’s the Ryder Cup.

Or, if you don’t feel like looking up, you could simply listen. Did Mike Tirico just say the words “Ryder Cup”? That’s the Ryder Cup.

Still not convinced? Think back twenty or thirty minutes. Did you turn on your TV, flip around a few different channels, think to yourself, “Hey, that’s the Ryder Cup,” and then immediately become engrossed in Facebook? If so, you almost certainly have the Ryder Cup on in the background right now.

And you’re lucky that you do, because action is really starting to heat up in the Ryder Cup. On a par 4, Dustin Johnson just… hm, I wonder if I have any good snacks lying around.

We can't play sports*, but we can make jokes about them!
