Players, coaches, and other staff of the Cleveland Cavaliers were the only people celebrating inside Oracle Arena last night, save for a very confused Anderson Varejão who excitedly jumped into the middle of the celebration before quickly being asked to leave.
“We get that he still feels connected to our team, and that’s nice and all,” said Cavs coach Tyronn Lue. “But, he was making everybody a little uncomfortable. I mean, he was just playing against us.”
Varejão spent the first few moments of the postgame celebration searching in vain for someone to give him a high five before giving up and starting his own dance circle. He then briefly performed a solo Capoeira before being asked to return to his own locker room.
“It sure was a sight to see,” said an Oracle Arena security guard. “That Brazilian danced like nobody was watching. Except, everyone was. And then they asked him to stop, which was awkward.”
