Barry Bonds’ informal apology tour continued Thursday as the ex-slugger expressed remorse for the way he treated pitched baseballs during his playing days.
Bonds was thought of as a villain by baseballs, as the ex-Giant hit so many of them hard and sent a record number of San Francisco baseballs into the bay outside their stadium.
“It’s no one else’s fault but mine, I was a dumbass,” Bonds said, in an interview with Sports On Earth. “I’m to blame for the way I was thought of by baseballs. I’m the one that hit them so hard.”
Bonds said in the interview that for a time he tried to be nicer to baseballs but it resulted in a hitting slump and his teammates encouraged him to return to his aggressive, hard-hitting ways.
