Some things never change. Win or lose, Patriots coach Bill Belichick is always ornery when it comes to the press, and he was in fine form after Thursday’s victory, refusing to answer a question about whether the Pats won the game.
“I’m a football coach, not a scoreboard,” grumbled Belichick, dourly. “I get the players ready to go, develop the game plan, and call the plays. I leave the score to the scoreboard. Next question.”
After a confused pause from the press, one local reporter finally asked, “So, are you saying you aren’t sure who won the game?”
“We’re on to Buffalo,” replied Belichick, brow furrowing ever deeper.
“You won the game,” continued the reporter. “I just want to make sure you know that. You should be happy. It was actually an amazing victory.”
“Unbelievable,” muttered the coach, shooting death glares out into the crowd. “No more questions then? Great, we’re done.”
Belichick then quickly left the microphone, leaving everyone present wondering what the heck just happened.
